My windows on most of Computers have DIED, so moved on to LINUX. Looking around for a new Printer and the reviews on the OKI C511DN were dam good, never seen any thing like it.

The C511DN has Networking, so it shouldn't matter what OS I'm on should it, yes the Drivers for the USB wont work off the CD and the Software Given by OKI wont ever. But I should be able to still Print things VIA the Ether Network, and dont need the Drivers/Software so to speak. Javelin Pos Installation Jobs there. Can do all the setup via Web Brow. It is possible that the driver on the host actually has to do rendering -- I don't know that for sure. But that could be one way that they get the cost down on that model.

They move some of the processing back to the host. If there aren't any specialized Linux drivers then it wouldn't print correctly. There are also a set of printer protocols that Linux supports by default, it is also possible that they eliminated THAT support in the ROM of the printer to lower the cost. I can see how it it possible to have a printer that won't work with Linux. I have NO KNOWLEDGE if either of these possibilities applies to this specific printer.
