We’ve bolted on aftermarket pieces on our Jeep, Harley, ATV and previous sleds. The instructions in the kit look well written — and full of dire warnings of death if you mess with the nitrogen charged portion of the shock. Consider that a sled stored in a heated garage and driven out to the trail may need a bit of adjusting before you reach your optimal ride setting. I charge $40 labor to rebuild most shocks. Some people pay less because they are getting less. I've rebuilt hundreds of shocks where people paid $20 for a 'rebuild' that was nothing less than a nitrogen charge. And some people do what I call a pump and dump. Drain old fluid and throw some maxima garbage fluid in and call it good.
Where as some like myself completely disassemble the shock, shim stack and seal head, Hone the shock body and lap the piston. Clean everything then reassemble with the best fluid money can buy.
